Malabar South Indian Restaurant

Malabar restaurant located at Crows Nest, known for its South Indian Cuisine food.  Normally when people think of Indian restaurant they think of the traditional North Indian food, butter chicken, Lamb Kofta and Nann bread.

The restaurant on busy night

Last Wednesday at lunch time I had the opportunity to eat this restaurant. The traditional south Indian food being dosa (look at picture below) served with Sambar(lentil broth) is what Malabar house specialty.

The dosa is thin, crisp, golden brown  rice and lentil pancake.

Malabar offer a range of flavors from plain dosa to Chicken dosa, where chicken pieces are stuffed inside the pancake.  The restaurant does offer North Indian food, curries. During lunch times they have a Vegetarian and Non Vegetarian special. In the vegetarian Special the entree consist of mini dosa  and the mains are eggplant  and potato, mixed vegetable curry  with dal and rice. The non vegetarian special, the entree being the same as the vegetarian special.  The main course consists of lamb varutha, butter chicken, mixed vegetable and rice.

I would recommend one tries the lunch special as mini dosa is served as an entree. This would allow one to taste a dosa which is not found in many Indian restaurant due to dosa being south Indian food.
